How To Tie a Scarf Like a French Girl

Trevisan demonstrates her four favorite ways to tie and wear the ultimate Parisian accessory. More women's scarves for sale.
The Knotted Double Loop

If it’s really cold, I wear my wool scarves like this. It sits well when you put a jacket on. It feels like a turtleneck.
The Headband

It gives you a good face. If you wake up and you’re feeling greenish, this style adds some color to your complexion. That’s why I like using this red print as a hair accessory. It’s also useful for taking the hair out of your face if you’re working and need to focus.
The Backward Bandana

This style is very tight, with the knot in the back. It adds something fun without dominating your outfit. I’m kind of a girl from the ’90s, and it has that feeling. Living in France, we have this thing about style; it’s subtle and understated.
The Classic Long Fold

When you have something long like this, it doesn’t disturb your silhouette. A lot of people just loop a scarf around their neck without flattening it first, which builds a lot of bulk, but I prefer this—it just sits better. Maybe it’s something about growing up.
